Impact of Natural Farming Cropping System on Rural Households—Evidence From Solan District of Himachal Pradesh, India

Description

The study examined costs of cultivation, gross returns, net returns and relative economic efficiency (REE) for NF and CF systems.

Findings

NF showed significantly lower costs of cultivation and higher net returns compared to CF across all crop combinations. This was attributed to reduced input costs and additional income from intercrops in NF. The REE indicated NF was more profitable than CF.

Stats

NF reduced costs by 12.56-30.73% in kharif and 6.86-12.34% in rabi compared to CF
REE of NF was 13.20-23.05% higher in kharif and 24.16-31.30% higher in rabi compared to CF.
